1. Is there a high incidence of CVD in your country? If yes, which risk factors do you think are responsible? If not, why not, in your opinion?

2. Do you know anyone who fits the Type A personality description? Which type are you? (You can google "Type A personality" to get more information.)

3. Do you think that you're at risk for CVD? Are there any changes that you could make in your lifestyle that would decrease your risk of CVD?

  1. Cardiovascular diseases are the first cause of death in Venezuela. There are many risk factors that affect the human body. People of 40 years old or more have high risk to suffer a cardiovascular disease in Venezuela.
In my opinion the risk factors that are responsible of this problem are:
    1. For the last eight years, the economic and political situation of the country has become a problem that affect directly the quality of life of the Venezuelan. People face to some difficult situation and some times they don’t know how to manage it. The stress is part of the life of any Venezuelan in this moment. This stressful situation are affecting people health. The statistics of cardiovascular disease are increasing more as last years.
    2. The smokers rate is rising in Venezuela. Teenagers start to smoke when they are in high school, in a range of 13 or 15 years old. Smoking is a kind of fashion style that is putting in danger the venezuelan society.
    3. In my country doesn’t exist any prevent program to inform people about the healthy problem that smoking could bring to your live. People just know the most common effects. They don’t know how their brain and heart could be affected by each cigarette that they smoke.
    4. People sometimes take medicines without prescription. The problem is that some drugs could produce secondary, for example high blood pressure. They should always go to the doctor to prevent any unexpected situation.

  2. I found an article of a doctor in Thailand (which is on the website; http://www.hiso.or.th/hiso/picture/reportHealth/ThaiHealth2007/ENG2007-Health-Indicators5.pdf) said that there is a very high incident of CVD in Thailand currently. It said that the CVD is the leading illness of Thailand. There are 28% of Thai people have some types of CVD. Moreover, 65000 Thai people per year die of heart attack and stroke. There is some information of the third National Health Examination Survey in 2004 about the risk factors of CVD of Thai people as the following:
    - High blood pressure; men has more risk than women.
    - Risk of being diabetes; there is two times more of risk among men in Bangkok than men in elsewhere in Thailand.
    - Diabetes; women has more common than men.
    - High levels of blood cholesterol; there are three times more common in Bangkok than in the Northeast of Thailand.
    - Insufficient exercise which lead to excessive weight and deposit of fat around the waist; there is more common among female than male.

Because of The higher risk factors in Thailand, heart disease illness increase from the second most important cause of ill health among Thai women in 1999 to be the first one in 2004.

  3. I think I am at risk for CVD.I have a perfect reason for it.I am very very stressed. I make too much plans in my mind. If I don't manage some of them, I think I am bad person, why I don't do. I begin to affect me negatively. This affects my body especially my hearth.
I know that if I don't change my think, I can't manage to avoid CVD. Moreover, I am living very lazy. I don't do any exercise. This also affect my hearth. I should start to do exercise if I want to live healthy.

  4. The risk factors of CVD are high in China. I think work overload, psychological pressure and a high proportion of smoking, unhealthy lifestyle, contributed to an increased risk of the main factors. As people's weight, blood pressure, blood glucose and lipid levels generally increased, the status of CVD is not good in China. The morbidity and mortality rates are continuing to rise. Cardiovascular risk factors have posed a serious threat to health.

  5. My cousin Daniel is a Type A person. He was in GT from elementary school to high school. Now he is attending the Plan Ⅱ Honors program of the UT. When he got a perfect score in the math competition, a journalist asked him about his academic performance. He answered, "If I don't get a perfect score in math, I can't sleep." He is highly competitive, ambitious, time-conscious, and very diligent. His dream is always lofty, but he always accomplishes his tasks because he always exerts himself. He read a huge number of books and has a great store of knowledge. He hates negligence. Because he did an excellent job in all subjects he attended, all his professors have wanted him to major in their subjects. He wants to major in forensic medicine at a graduate school. He is a perfectionist, but he is not aggressive. He is very kind and handsome. He likes a diligent woman like him. He is very strict to himself, but soft to other people, so whoever meets him likes him. I also like him, and I love his violin performance. It is very mellifluous.

  6. Fist of all, CVD is also high in my country. People who have a lot of stress are liable to heart disease. Second, i don't know any perfectinist. My last anwer is; i think i don't have any risk of CVD because i always eat healthy food, and i work out regulary to keep heath. I also don't smoke and drink alchole. i am not a person who usually get angry or depress. BUT, as you know, i have a serious insomnia. Maybe it could lead me to CVD??? - no way~ 'knock on wood, knock, knock, knock! - Therefore, i have to figure out that where my sleeplessness comes from.

    have nice weekend everybody! :)

  7. 1. I heard that many Korean had heart disease especially men. I think that the reasons are drinking, smoking, stress and genetic. Most of Korean men drink alcohol too much, and they also smoke because they get stress in their company.
    2. I know a friend who looks like Type A. whenever I saw him, he was cleaning something that he had, such as table, car and house. Also, he took shower every morning and every night before he slept. He always cared something very detail. I am not Type A because I got 35 when I took the test that teacher put on this blog.
    3. I do not know whether I am at risk for heart disease. However, I have changed my bad habits since I came to Houston. When I work in Korea, I drank much, but I drunk just less than 10 bottles of beer a week, and I have no stress here. Also I might quit smoking in next month.

  8. I do not know about the incidence of CVD in my country, but I think the incidence of CVD in my city is low. My hometown Chengdu is famous as a leisure city in China. People who are living in Chengdu always enjoy their slow lives.
I am sorry. I really do not know about the CVD. I think neither my parents nor friends are Type A.

  9. The risk factor of the CVD is very high in China. But for me, I'm a type B person, when i was a kid, i think i was tpye A, i wanted to be a TOP kid, but then I found it was not interesting. The teachers just think you are the best, you are the model student, some classmates didn't like you. SO I changed, I learned how to relax myself and got well with my classmates,I also was a good student, but not NO.1.
I think no matter you are a type A or tpye B, if you like your life ,it doesn't matter, you feel fun in your life, this is an important thing. I think GOD is fair to everyone, you are type A, you learn many things, you'll be very successful and you are type B, you enjoyed your life, everyone gets someting in your life, it was so wonderful.
