Have an amazing weekend!
I hope you had fun today. I did. I love games!
But the LCC isn't Camp Fun and Games. At the LCC, our goal is to build your language skills! Our philosophy is that if you take a non-English speaker and make him learn 10 words a day, he will become an English speaker!
So please be prepared for next week:
Monday
USA Today article
Holes vocabulary test, 1-6
We will discuss Holes on Monday
Tuesday
Be prepared to discuss the chapter on psychology in RS. You should read it twice before Tuesday and complete the exercises (all of this is on the schedule).
Your MIDTERM reading exam will be on MAIN IDEAS. If you don't complete the chapter on main ideas and PRACTICE this, you will not pass the test. Usually.
Your MIDTERM vocabulary exam will be on USA TODAY (list one) and Holes, chapter 7.
I will give you the vocabulary you will need next week for the MIDTERM listening test.
You must complete all of your blog assignments before midterm. If you don't, you will receive an F (which means "fail," not "fun") on the section of the report card that says "completes assignments."

Sharing Your Cultural Perspective (due Thursday, February 25)
Ruth and the man in her story (the dunce/genius) both gave themselves labels early in life. Though usually negative, labels can also be positive. In either case, they are powerful.
Answer the following questions:
1. What kind of labels have you given yourself in your life, and why? Have they been helpful or harmful in your opinion?
2. What labels have been given to you by others? Did they help you or hurt you?
